Mary was born in Clifton, Bristol in 1955 and was educated at La Retraite School for Girls.  She had a love of painting and drawing from a very early age, she is entirely self taught, and at only 13 years old was being commissioned to paint landscape and flower paintings.  She continued to develop her skills and has exhibited successfully throughout the UK.

Mary is married with two daughters and has lived for a time in Zimbabwe and Cape Town where her work is well known.  During her time in Africa, Mary developed a love of wildlife and since her return to England has found the abundance and variety of European wildlife to be a fascinating and exquisite subject, particularly as many species are now endangered. Her paintings are acclaimed for the attention to detail and accuracy.
