      Richard Thorn's watercolours show a rare power and dynamism, as he expertly captures the nuances of the British seasons. His work has been exhibited at the Royal Institute, and discerning collectors from America and Germany, and Princess Michael of Kent are among the proud owners of Richard's work. He was born in Devon in 1952 and studied art at Newton Abbot School of Art. His love of art was a natural progression, having spent most of his early years drawing and sketching. Mainly self taught, the artist’s early influences emerged from studying the paintings of the American masters, such as Winslow Homer, Andrew Wyeth, Edward Hopper and Phillip Jameson. The artist’s style owes much to these contemporary exponents of watercolour.

         Richard Thorn has had many exhibitions and one man shows, mainly in the South of England. His strong, distinctive style and his interpretation of light has made his work sought after by galleries and collectors throughout the country.
